I'm sitting here, listening to Faithless. Oh Faithless, you are so cool. Lately I have been listening to lots of "old" music. It's old, because I haven't listened to it in a long, long while. It's music I used to listen to as a kid. To listen to it now brings me back to those days... Today I have listened to Faithless, Tupac and Dr. Dre... Yes, I did listen to that kind of music when I was younger. I thought it was awesome, and it still is. I think if you compare it to a lot of the music we get today, it is a lot better! I mean, I know Tupac was all like "West side is tha thang, imma whoop yo ass" etc, but he also had some really good lyrics going on. He did actually go to school studying poetry, jazz, acting and ballet... so if that don't make you a good song writer, I don't know what does. Both Dr. Dre and Tupac are legends, I believe. Legends in the world of rap... it's a shame so many rappers don't learn from them. Faithless is just funky.

_1992 started on a Wednesday, and it was a leap year. It is also the year I was born, and a bunch of other unknown people and some known ones such as Selena Gomez (wow I thought she was 12) and Nick Jonas... Wow, makes me weep a bit to think about it... Some deaths took place as well, such as blues guitarist Albert King and Mimi Smith, the maternal aunt and guardian of John Lennon.

A few wars took place, such as the civil war in Afghanistan (it ended in 1996). An introduction of CD-i is launched by Philips, an interactive multimedia CD-player. The American Western film Unforgiven came out. Cartoon Network was launched (this made my childhood awesome. Love you CN). Nevermind by Nirvana became number one on the US billboard. This is also the year Kurt Cobain married Cortney Love (disaster?). Bands such as Amon Amarth, The Kovenant, Nada Surf and so on were established in 1992. My favourite band was probably Hanson. Gotta love these boys.
_The 90s in general was a great decade for game consoles. I for one used to play Super Nintendo. Donkey Kong, Ninja Turtles, Super Mario, Street Fighters and Roadrunner Death Valley Rally, to name a few. Playing these games today takes me back to the time when my sister, my brother and I used to play together for hours. It would usually end up being just me and my sister, because my brother is eight years older than me. We were probably quite annoying... Haha.

In the early ninties, the fashion from the late eighties was still in tact. Women wore tight trousers, denim shirts, neon colours. Oversized sweaters... leather jackets, cowboy boots, baby doll dresses and of course matching jeans and denim jackets. I remember getting clothes from my older sisters, so I had more eighties clothes than ninties, I think.

For men flannel shirts became very popular. And also acid washed denim jackets or leather jackets. Converse shoes were also in.
So, quite a lot happened the year I was born. I just thought I look into it, because I have never really thought much about it. Are you born in 1992? Well now you briefly know what happened.

I was thinking that I should write a bit about the band I believe the title "band of the year" (2011). I didn't discover them before December, but that doesn't matter. They have truly captured me. I found out about Ghost on something called Defenders of Faith. I was there to see one of my favourite bands called In Flames. Ghost was playing before In Flames(unfortunately for In Flames, Ghost is what I remember, not them). The band was formed in 2008, but didn't release any music before 2010.

Ghost is a Swedish band. Genre can be discussed, they don't really say anything about the genre themselves, but wikipedia lists them as melodic heavy metal (which I guess can be true, especially if wikipedia says it). However, this is how they describe themselves on Facebook: "Ghost is the name of a devil worshipping ministry, that in order to spread its unholy gospels and, furthermore, trick mankind into believing the end is ultimately a good thing, have decided to use the ever so popular rock music medium as a way to achieve their ends."

Yes, it is very satanic (the lyrics, anyway). And their performance is sort of the opposite of a catholic mass (well not really, it is like a catholic mass, but satanic). The singer of the band is the only one you can see the face of. And he is wearing a catholic dress (similar to the pope?) with a big hat. And the crosses on it... they are upsidedown. His face is painted as a skeleton (or perhaps a ghost?) He is called "Papa Emeritus". The rest of the band wears black munk robes which cover up their faces and everything. They are called "Nameless Ghouls". I love this concept!

I am not at all a devil worshipper, but I do like this band. I believe their music is clever, and well played. Their music is taking you back to the 70s, which is cool. New bands these days are usually garbage (pardon me if I have offended anyone).

Whether they have tricked anyone into being devil worshippers, I don't know. They haven't tricked me anyway. Here is a couple of their songs (Con Clavi Con Dio and Elizabeth, plus the intro to the show. (This is from Hellfest, the year I DIDN'T go...)

Oh winter. The month of December is long gone, and we are soon half way into January. Another year has passed, the year of 2011. Lots of changes in just one year. I will try to sum it up a bit...

I entered the new year in Sheffield with Christians family. I believe we had a roast or something similar for dinner. We watched the fireworks, drank champagne and celebrated (as far as I remember). I had to go back pretty quick after new years, because I still had half a year left in high school... in Norway... Christian had some exams in January, so he wasn't able to come with me. The months left at high school consisted of being overworked, preparing for my exams, spending lots of time with my friends and of course with Chris. I did my exams in May/June and graduated from Ringerike Videregående Skole. I sure am glad I ain't going back!

Anyway. The summer was brilliant. I went to Copenhagen on a cruise with my mom, my sister in law and Christian. We went to the Carlsberg museum, the Hippie State in Copenhagen caller Christiania. The trip was a birthday present for my mom. I think (and hope) she enjoyed it as much as I did. I spent some time in Norway with my friends and family, before going (actually officially moving) to Sheffield. It was on 27. July. I packed all my stuff (meaning all my CDs) and went to Sheffield. How on earth we managed to do it, I have no idea.
I didn't start at university before 16. September. So we went to Cyprus for a week. I got burnt as hell (pardon my French), but I had a really good time. Since I had such a long break, I actually went back to Norway for a week as well. I missed home, my mom, my friends and just everything. When I came back, I was ready to start. The year has gone by so fast. Faster than I could imagine. This Christmas I was in Norway. Christians parents came over for a week, and it has just been a really lovely time. I miss my mom and friends already.

So, this year I have seen Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Defenders of Faith (In Flames, Ghost, Trivium etc), Mr. Nice, Dylan Moran (I think that's all). Aaaall in one year. It has been a good year. I also got a new tattoo with my big sister as well. I means a lot to us both, and being able to do it together was awesome.

_Here it is, kinda red, but that is only because I took it that day. The song Imagine by John Lennon means the world to both me and my sister. But reason why we took it is because our dad loved it. So this one if for you, dad.

I have put a little slideshow of the year under this. There's probably a lot more I could have added.
